Our destination guides explain the history, legends, literature and cultural context behind a place. Our travel guides focus on practical decisions a visitor needs to make before arriving. Everything is written in English for international travelers, without assuming prior knowledge of Chinese history or culture.

Who is the author?

Articles are authored and reviewed collectively by Lore Routes. We use the organization name because the website and LoreLens guides share one editorial process and are maintained as a single body of work.

How we work

We check historical claims against primary records, scholarly references, cultural institutions and official destination information where available. Practical details are reviewed separately because routes, opening arrangements and operator policies can change.
